Summertime is best spent with fun and sun! A group of residents in our transitional housing and Scattered Site Apartment Treatment programs took a daytrip to Rye Playland Amusement Park in Westchester County to do just that! In coordination with our Activities Department, residents enjoyed all the park had to offer including adventurous rides and carnival-style games. Our Activities Coordinator Sherwin Michel played a major role in putting this trip together to ensure it was a great day for all participants. “It was rewarding to see so many smiles, laughter, and positive interactions such as getting on rides, playing music on the bus, and having lunch by the pond,” reflected Michel.

Ahead of their trip, residents gathered at our Chapel Street community room for trip preparation sessions. They personalized their own bucket hats to keep them protected from the sun, while socializing and learning social and personal skills that would be helpful while at the amusement park.

Off-site trips into the community, such as this one, are crucial to the health and healing journey of our residents. “The outing provided a fun and supportive environment where residents could relax, build connections, and create lasting memories,” remarked Michel.
