Celebrating Summertime

Summertime at BCHS is always filled with fun, laughs, and celebration! We kicked off the summer with our annual Memorial Day barbeque in the Brooklyn Gardens courtyard. Residents and staff from across our programs gathered for a sunny afternoon of delicious grilled up hot dogs and burgers made by Chef Leonard. Longtime veteran’s group member Fred Turbee shared the origins of the day and led a special commemoration honoring Black service members who lost their lives while serving in the United States military.

At 2425 Pacific Street, our activities team hosted their first building-wide event to honor Juneteenth. Residents enjoyed a catered lunch in the community room as they got to know their neighbors.

For Father’s Day, Pamper Me Quick, a mobile hairdresser and barber, visited Brooklyn Gardens. Residents across all programs were able to get their hair cut and styled to their liking. Thank you to the incredible Pamper Me Quick team for not only donating an additional hour of their time, but for making our residents feel comfortable and confident in their new looks!
