Program Overview

At BCHS, we offer a wide range of housing programs coupled with social services to meet the needs of formerly homeless and housing vulnerable individuals, mothers and children, veterans, and other Brooklyn residents. While we address our clients’ immediate need for housing, the hallmark of our work is community building.

Providing housing, targeted clinical services, and opportunities for community building, our clients regain their independence and find their own unique pathways to home and long-term success.

On-Site Residential Programs

Family Shelter is short-term housing that offers mothers and children a refuge from homelessness and/or domestic violence situations.

Transitional Supportive Housing provides comprehensive care, which includes medication management, case management, and other supports to individuals with severe mental illness.

Permanent Supportive Housing provides apartment-style housing coupled with supportive services for adults, many of whom are dealing with addiction or mental illness.

Affordable Housing provides low-income individuals with low-cost apartments so that rent never exceeds 30% of income.

Off-Site Housing Programs

Scattered-Site Apartment Program offers transitional and permanent private apartments throughout Brooklyn, along with support services for formerly homeless adults with mental health issues, promoting stability and self-sufficiency.

Brooklyn Housing Assistance Center (BHAC) provides eviction and homelessness prevention services for low-income households in Brooklyn through case management, landlord mediation, legal assistance, and financial aid.
